Secrets to Healthy Hair
Begining of a Healthy Relationship
Wow,
The response from our first edition was so fantastic and the comments were great.
But one reader really inspired me.
She said after reading our article on own hair vs. artificial hair she went out and bought Natures Gentle Touch Relaxer and Cholesterol treatment and had a total hair makeover. She and her husband were billed to attend a friend’s birthday party and looked so stunning that her husband was by her side all evening. After the party he still wanted to show her off, so off they went to a movie, dinner and a nightclub. She said she has not had so much fun in one evening and better still her husband could not take his eyes of her.
I guess he forgot who he had married with all that artificial hair.
We also received a note from a lady whose hair just does not relax no matter what product she uses. We sent her mail telling her to ensure her stylist knows her hair type and uses the appropriate relaxer. Often times stylists are using a kit instead of a lye product. For absolute bone straightness use Natures Gentle Touch Lye Relaxer.
Please don’t hesitate to send us mail if you require hair advice. The first 3 readers to send in letters will get a free hairdo.
Enjoy!

Which hair type will increase your chances of meeting Mr. Right Natural or Artificial?
We decided to send out a questionnaire to men between the ages of 25 - 35 to find out their take on Natural Hair and Artificial Hair. Quite interesting.
When asked if they would approach a woman with Artificial hair? They all said yes but would view them with caution. Asked why? 65% said that they believe that a woman who has artificial hair is fake and lacks confidence and would not be their first choice as a partner. 25% said its difficult to tell who they really are and hold an image in their minds so they would need to meet them several times over. 10% could not say why.
When asked whether they preferred women with Natural Hair? All the respondents said natural. But when they were shown pictures of women with artificial hair 60% preferred the look while 20% preferred natural hair look. 20% could not form an opinion.
When asked if they liked to run their hands through their partner’s hair especially when they were being romantic? All the respondents said only if their partners had their natural hair. Some went as far as saying that artificial hair is a a big turnoff.
When asked if they would mind if their partners wore artificial hair? All the respondents said some of the time.
Well I think that settles it. Artificial hair is just not an everyday look. Except, well all you want is the attention! Which is addictive in itself?
Frequently Asked Questions and Answers.
What should I eat to keep my hair healthy?
Check the ingredients in the food you eat. Are your meals enriching? A lot of foods lack vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. For instance, eating organic can greatly improve hair health, "The closer to nature-raw green foods-you eat, the more healthy your hair will become.
Eating foods rich in silica and sulphur such as onions, garlic, green leafy veggies and eggs. Sulphur, which is often dubbed the "beauty mineral" and can be found in its greatest concentration in hair, skin and nails, promotes circulation and decreases inflammation. Experts theorize that adequate amounts of sulphur can help jumpstart hair growth in people with deficiencies. "Iodine and potassium foods, such as fish and bananas promote growth and thickness of the hair.
As much as you love coffee, sweets, and salty snacks, reducing your intake of salt, sugar, fats and caffeine can also aid in fostering hair health. Instead of coffee or soda, drink water. Since the human body is generally composed of 60-80 percent water, when deprived of it, your cell health suffers. Dehydration directly impacts hair growth, so drinking at least six glasses of water a day is very good for the hair.
Will Extensions hurt my hair?
It's very possible, yes, especially if you've got fine hair or hair that is already damaged.
There are many types of extensions out there, and some of the newest methods involve gluing faux tresses into your natural hair. It sounds like a horror, but if you are careful to choose the high-end path, it's the best method for limp hair because it puts very little weight on your follicles and roots.
Make sure the stylist is using human hair (not synthetic) and has a high-quality bonding agent that is not made out of wax. Extensions that are glued in with wax-based adhesive are inexpensive and can be done fast, but you'll suffer for it when you try to remove them. It's messy and can be seriously damaging to your hair.
The best bonding agents are made of a synthetic material that can handle the high heat that comes with blow drying and curling/straightening irons, and are easily dissolved with a special solvent that turns the glue to dust -- no oily residue and no yanking and pulling on your natural hair when they come out.
Other extensions involve weaving fake hair into your normal hair right at the root. Some methods use metal tubes, others "stitch" the hair together. Neither of these methods is good for your hair, because the possibility of severe breakage at the root is sky-high. If your stylist tries to do this to you, don't stick around. It's a sign of inexperience -- and you don't need to be anyone's guinea pig.
How can I get rid of split ends?
There is no magic solution. All the blow-drying, straightening, coloring and curling breaks down the cuticle of your hair, and the strands literally start to come undone. By the time you notice a split end, irreparable damage has already been done. As we said in the last issue your hair deteriorates from the inside out. It means your hair has run out of its natural oils which can only be replaced by using a relaxer that has a blend of herbal ingredients like Natures Gentle Touch Herbal Blend Relaxer. You have two choices (short of ditching your styling altogether and going au naturel) -- get regular trims every six to eight weeks, and practice aggressive prevention with the steps below:
Comb wet hair gently with a wide-tooth comb to prevent damage.
Use a soft-bristled brush on dry hair.
Invest in an ionic blow-dryer that locks in moisture
Use shampoos and conditioners formulated with herbal ingredients (Natures Gentle Touch Herbalblend Nuetralising Shampoo and Natures Gentle Touch Herbal Blend Deep Penetrating Cholesterol Conditioning Treatment).
Wait at least two weeks between chemical processes. Don't do a perm and a color the same day, for example.
Deep condition your hair at least once a month with Natures Gentle Touch Herbal Blend Deep Penetrating Cholesterol Conditioning Treatment, and also look for hydrating, leave-in conditioners that can soften the look of split ends.
Find styling products with silicone, which is great for smoothing split ends.
Don't be afraid of a trim. Whack off the weak ends and concentrate on making the hair healthier with the steps outlined above. Even if you're growing your hair out, it's a good idea to keep the ends trimmed.
I Used a Relaxer and My Hair Is So Brittle!
Of course it is! Think of it this way: Any chemical strong enough to change your genetically coded tendency for wavy or curly hair into stick-straight hair is going to do some damage. Even if you use a blow-dryer and a flat comb to straighten your hair non-chemically, you're inflicting a bit of a beat-down on your hair. It wasn't the way nature intended you to look.
Reverse some of the chemical damage with deep conditioners. If you're seeing breakage or severe split ends, go to a salon for a trim and start using a leave-in conditioner and cholesterol treatment every week. We recommend Natures Gentle Herbalblend Touch Deep Penetrating Cholesterol Treatment. Do as little blow-drying as possible, and avoid flat irons or any other heated styling devices. Don't color your hair until it regains some vibrancy -- those relaxing chemicals are harsh, and adding another process can lead to hair loss.
Don't braid your hair, wear it in a ponytail, or pull it back in any way that creates tension on the root. Again, you're risking breakage. Comb it gently and keep conditioning. In about two weeks you should see some improvement.
Keep an eye out for signs of more permanent problems, such as spot hair loss, hair breakage at the scalp line, scalp rashes, irritation and potential scarring of the scalp. These indicate the possibility of damage to the follicle, which could inhibit future hair growth. That's serious, and you should see a professional immediately.
Although hair relaxers and straighteners have improved tremendously (don't use a product without natural oils (avocado oil, jojuba oil and sheabutter by the way). Natures Gentle Touch Herbalblend Relaxers are rich in these natural oils which lock moisture in the hair from root to tip. Most complaints we get stem from incorrect use of the products by consumers or improperly trained hairdressers. The bottom line: Don't do this at home and pick a good stylist.
We recommend these fine salons; Bobby's, Make Me, Down Town, and Touch of Glamour.
Outlets where Natures Gentle Touch can be found; Park and Shop, Supa Mega, Goodies, Game, Health Plus, Ever Bright, Yem Yem, Tonysons, Pharma Affairs, Payless, Mate, GoldTwinkle, Every Bright, Adide Stores and several fine cosmetic shops and supermarkets.
